The ostseecard* represents a joint project of 18 beach and health resorts that are found along Schleswig-Holsteins’ Baltic Sea coast.
Starting as a chip card in 2005, the current system is based on personalized paper cards that are affixed to business forms.
The business forms provide a means to register Online, a new system that was instituted in 2007 for the first time in Schleswig-Holstein. The submitted application is then easily processed by the resort or hotel, with taxes efficiently collected and distributed. The card gives businesses an effective means of promotion and offers tourists a range of benefits, e.g. participation in special contests or access to an exclusive newsletter.
The task: The Ostsee–Tourismus–Service (OTS) was looking for an innovative solution to replace its current card. An important goal was to facilitate reservations, accommodations and local tax processing. Besides being used for an I.D., by offering tourists various advantages, the new card was to promote Schleswig-Holstein as an attractive vacation destination.
The solution: A personalized form with an integrated paper card is all that is needed to get started and book a reservation Online. Besides paper cards, picture I.D cards are also available for guests requiring season passes. In addition to producing the applications and member cards, PAV CARD also planned and executed the distribution strategy.
